31 Halloween Films for Kids Who Can’t See R-Rated Movies Yet.

#8 – Poltergeist

Yup. Poltergeist is rated PG. (Not PG-13 mind you, but PG) And so you’ve either seen it or you haven’t. If you seen it, then, well, you know. And if you haven’t seen it, well, you should.

I’ll admit, this movie freaked me out when I was kid. But I still couldn’t stop watching it. Mostly because I thought JoBeth Williams was the hottest Mom EVER! But it’s scary but by no means violent. The ghosts actually have a reason to be angry and they make many of the serial killers seem downright one dimensional.

What sells his movie as a classic is the tone. Even the woman who shows up to (quote) clean the house (unquote) is freaky. Everything about the movie is eerie and it makes the overuse of skeletons forgivable.

And it holds up. It holds up great. Even if you aren’t afraid of clowns.
